Simple Bolognese Sauce

Enough for 500g Pasta

Ingredients

500g Premium Beef Mince

2 (400g each) tins of diced or whole tomatoes

1 Onion

1/2 cup Red Wine

Handful of Fresh Basil

2 Large Mushrooms - optional

1 Cup of Peas - optional

EVOO

Salt

Method

Finely dice your onion and add it to a preheated deep saucepan with a generous amount of oil, about 1/4 cup and some fresh basil. If your using mushrooms they can go in now too. Sprinkle in some salt.

Once your onions have softened and coloured a little add in your mince with a sprinkle of salt, break it up and give it a mix and then try not to turn it for a few minutes so it browns.

When the meat it almost cooked through add in the wine and let it cook off for a few minutes, then add the sauce. I give my tinned tomatoes a blend first as I don't like them chunky. Fill both tins with water and add them to the pot too.

Season with some salt and add a little more fresh basil (and the peas) and let it all simmer for about 1 hour - 2 hrs.

My Tip: You can also use a bottle of passata, it won't need any blending.

Enjoy x
